ArtSoup, the arts festival sponsored by the Elk River Area Arts Alliance (ERAAA) is returning this year to historic downtown Elk River on Saturday, June 20. The biennial festival is a free, fun, family-friendly day that features art, live music, food, dance, and theater. The event will include Art Sales Booths with painting, glass, jewelry, pottery & much more - A great place to find gifts or something unique for yourself. Art experiences for the whole family like watching chalk artist and ERAAA member Shawn McCann create a beautiful work of art right on the street. The camaraderie of the ArtSoup Festival will be enhanced by Chicks on Sticks - Lady Stilt Walkers in Costume , Blacksmith Demonstrations by Fred McCluskey, Music from the Andes, Clowns, Middle Eastern Dance Troupe with Anita Isenor as well as other cultural acts at Rivers Edge Commons Park. ArtSoup Medallion Hunt: Elk River Lions are sponsoring a medallion hunt during ArtSoup. DETAILS; If you buy a button (at First National Bank, downtown and across from the old Target, at Coborns, and at the Arts Alliance, for $2 each) and find the medallion, you receive $100 cash prize. Otherwise you get a $25 ArtSoup voucher. The medallion will be hidden within the city limits. You will not have to climb, swim, dig, chop, saw, or do anything dangerous. Just decipher the clues and search. Clues will be posted where the buttons are sold, at the Arts Alliance Web site (elkriverart.org) and the chamber Web site, (elkriverchamber.org). New clues will be posted daily Monday through Friday. When you find the medallion, contact the Elk River Lions at 763-633-1505.

ArtSoup is one of the region's largest art festivals, and is presented by the Elk River Area Arts Alliance, and made possible by grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Central Minnesota Arts Board, and sponsorships by local businesses. ArtSoup is a biennial festival that draws over 2,000 attendees and features local artists while providing food, fun, and family entertainment in the Elk River community since 1999.
